Final Protocol

Engagement with patients and caregivers should be continuous. Feedback loops should extend beyond initial design phases, allowing updates and protocol changes to be communicated back over time—even years later.

Questions To Ask

open drawer
How would individuals or organizations prefer to receive feedback and updates?

Why involve patients and caregivers now?

Engaging patients and caregivers during final protocol development enables sponsors to close the feedback loop established in earlier phases.

This stage provides an opportunity to return to those previously engaged, demonstrate how their input influenced the study, and reinforce transparency and trust. Maintaining this connection supports long-term engagement and strengthens relationships for future studies.

How to Communicate Back to Patients and Caregivers

1. Thank you and acknowledgment

2. Review and decision-making

3. “You said, we did” summary

4. Plain language impact summary

5. Optional follow-up engagement

6. Documentation and tracking
