2nd International Clinical Trials Conference
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

The Second International Clinical Trials Conference 2024, organized by King Abdullah International Medical Research Center and the Saudi Clinical Trials Enterprise, brought together global experts to foster collaboration and explore advancements in clinical trials. CTTI's director of projects, Sara Bristol Calvert, presented on "Reshaping Clinical Trials: The Merging of Decentralization and Technology," focusing on innovative strategies to enhance trial efficiency and patient engagement.

Colorectal Cancer Canada: Patient-Centered Approach to Clinical Trials Conference
Montreal, Quebec, Canada

The eighth Annual Patient-Centered Approach to Clinical Trials Conference served as a pivotal platform for informing clinical trial networks, researchers, and various stakeholders about advancements in cancer research. Summer Starling, senior project manager and lead of strategic operations at CTTI, presented on how Canada can embrace the Measuring Trials Transformation Framework and Metrics from CTTI.

DIA 2024 Global Annual Meeting
San Diego, California

The DIA 2024 Global Annual Meeting invited industry leaders, regulators, academics, and patients to network and tackle the challenges facing the life sciences community. Hosted in San Diego, the event showcased diverse perspectives and expertise, aiming to reimagine processes that enhance health and well-being. CTTI's Sara Bristol Calvert, director of projects, and Summer Starling, senior project manager and lead of strategic operations, delivered four engaging presentations, sharing insights on evidence generation, the state of clinical trials, disease progression modeling, and the collaborative efforts of ACT EU, the FDA, the World Health Organization, and CTTI to strengthen the clinical trials enterprise.

Next-Generation Digital Biomarkers Summit
Zurich, Switzerland

The Next-Generation Digital Biomarkers Summit focused on the theme of next-generation wearable devices, such as those for sweat and breath analysis, and their translation into clinical implementation, gathering leading researchers, patients, industry experts, and healthcare professionals to explore cutting-edge digital health technology. Lindsay Kehoe, senior project manager at CTTI, presented alongside Jörg Goldhahn of ETH Zurich on "Setting Up Clinical Trials Supported by the Clinical Trials Transformation Initiative (CTTI)."

Fall Steering Committee Meeting

CTTI_SC Fall Meeting

At CTTI's 2024 Fall Steering Committee Meeting, attendees focused on recent regulatory guidance and strategies to bridge the gap between guidance and practice. Discussions centered on optimizing master protocols, implementing diversity action plans, and modernizing good clinical practice (GCP). Key themes included addressing logistical challenges in master protocols through collaboration, enhancing diversity by engaging patient communities, and adopting risk-based, flexible oversight to ensure participant safety. Attendees also explored pathways for expanding master protocols, developing benchmarks for diversity, and integrating AI to reduce trial complexity and improve trial management.

CTTI Dinners

New in 2024, CTTI Dinners serve as a platform for generating innovative ideas and actionable solutions, propelling us forward in our mission to transform trials by 2030. The events held in Orlando in February and San Diego in June fostered meaningful discussions on the state of clinical trials, current pain points, and opportunities for collaboration.

Summit for Clinical Ops Executives (SCOPE) in Orlando

During the SCOPE Summit, where CTTI senior project manager Lindsay Kehoe presented, we hosted our inaugural CTTI Dinner-a new initiative designed to spark open, informal dialogue with CTTI members and special guests in an intimate setting. Amy Abernethy, co-founder of Highlander Health, opened the evening with an insightful talk highlighting the successes and challenges in clinical trials, future directions, and promising developments in data sharing and evidence generation on the horizon.

Drug Information Association (DIA) Annual Meeting in San Diego

At the DIA Annual Meeting, where CTTI's Director of Projects Sara Bristol Calvert and Senior Project Manager Summer Starling presented, we hosted a dinner featuring Ana Zanoletty of the European Medicines Agency, who led an engaging discussion on clinical trial trends in Europe and the innovative work of Accelerating Clinical Trials in the EU (ACT EU). As programme manager for ACT EU and head of the Clinical Trials Transformation workstream, Ana detailed how the initiative is driving regulatory change, fostering innovation, and supporting EU Member States in implementing the Clinical Trials Regulation and Clinical Trials Information System.
