CAPT Dianne Paraoan, US Public Health Service, is the Acting Director for the Office of Medical Policy (OMP) at FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), where she provides Center oversight and leadership in the development of medical policy and procedures, and policy initiatives pertaining to drug development and clinical trial modernization, use of innovative technologies, patient labeling, and drug promotion and advertising. In OMP, CAPT Paraoan has advanced the use of emerging technologies in drug development and led efforts to promote the appropriate use of real‑world evidence to inform regulatory decision-making. Over the past 20 years, in addition to her contributions to OMP, CAPT Paraoan has supported FDA/CDER’s mission in several roles in the Office of Executive Programs and Office of New Drugs. Prior to her career at the FDA, CAPT Paraoan served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps. CAPT Paraoan holds a Master of Public Health (Community Health and Preventive Medicine) from Walden University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from York College of Pennsylvania.
